The Pointe du Raz

The Pointe du Raz

Come and tread the ground of one the most famous sites in the west: France’s Land’s End. Fill your lungs with fresh sea air and admire a landscape that might well take that breath away…

This coastal point with its steep and jagged 70-metre cliffs stands testament to the force of the elements. And what can we say about the views? Opposite you’ll see the waters known as the Raz de Sein (with the Phare de la Vieille and Phare de Tévennec lighthouses, the Île de Sein 8km away) and far off in the distance, the famous Ar Men lighthouse, the best-known and the furthest from the French coast, a triumph of engineering that took 34 years to build.

To either side, there’s Audierne Bay, the Bay of the Departed, the Pointe du Van, Douarnenez Bay and the Cap de la Chèvre, from where the semaphore and the statue ‘Our Lady of the Drowned Souls’ keep watch over the water.

Near the Pointe du Raz, there are several shops and restaurants.
The Visitor Centre, which has a 100-seater screening room and exhibition hall, informs visitors about the rich natural environment here, raising awareness of its fragile nature as well as its countless attractions.
